Cross sea and cross city manned flight
On February 27th, AUTOFLIGHT Aviation Technology independently developed a 5-seater eVTOL aircraft, Shengshilong, which fully simulates a family's flight from Shenzhen Shekou Cruise Home Port to Zhuhai Jiuzhou Port Terminal, shortening the ground travel time from 2.5 to 3 hours per trip to 20 minutes.
This is the first public demonstration flight of the world's first cross sea and cross city eVTOL electric vertical takeoff and landing aircraft route, crossing the the Pearl River into the sea bay, connecting two key cities in the Guangdong Hong Kong Macao Greater Bay Area, with a round-trip flight of more than 100 kilometers. In the Guangdong Hong Kong Macao Greater Bay Area, where the total GDP exceeds 13 trillion yuan, unprecedented explorations and breakthroughs have been made from technological innovation to expansion of application scenarios. In the future, eVTOL aircraft technology will bring a more comfortable, efficient, and affordable low altitude travel method to the 100 million public in the Greater Bay Area, and will also bring huge low altitude economic development effects.
The eVTOL electric vertical takeoff and landing aircraft, known as the "air taxi" or "air taxi," does not require traditional airports and runways. It takes off vertically like a helicopter and switches to a fixed wing flight mode in the air, cruising at high speed like traditional large aircraft. Pure electric power, safe and environmentally friendly, quiet and comfortable, can be booked with just one click through the mobile platform, achieving point-to-point travel within cities and between urban areas. After large-scale operation, the cost can be comparable to ground shuttle services.
The successful flight of Shenzhen Zhuhai eVTOL is an important exploration for the commercial operation of low altitude travel. Through the joint efforts of eVTOL technology enterprises, advanced air traffic operation service companies, air traffic infrastructure providers and service providers, government management departments, airspace management departments, civil aviation management agencies, and other parties, the practice and verification of eVTOL technology, infrastructure construction, route planning, airspace coordination, and digital supervision of air traffic have become an important milestone in the beginning of China's low altitude economy.
The eVTOL route for this flight is operated by Eastern Airlines, a strategic partner of AUTOFLIGHT Aviation Technology. Eastern Airlines has signed a purchase order for 100 Fengfei Shengshilong aircraft and will use Shengshilong for more eVTOL route operations in the future, promoting more commercial landing scenarios.
The Guangdong Hong Kong Macao Greater Bay Area is vigorously supporting and promoting the development of low altitude economy. It plans to open hundreds of eVTOL routes and thousands of takeoff and landing points in the next few years. At that time, low altitude travel will no longer be the "patent" of a few people, and the general public can choose "flying" as a comfortable and efficient mode of transportation.
About AUTOFLIGHT Shengshilong
Sheng Shilong, independently developed by AUTOFLIGHT, can carry 5 people, with a 100% domestically produced core module and a cruising speed of up to 200 kilometers per hour. In 2023, Sheng Shilong set a global record for a single charge flight of 250.3 kilometers for a 2-ton eVTOL, and achieved the world's first full-scale verification of a three aircraft formation flight mission with multiple eVTOL aircraft, multiple crew members, the same airspace, and full conversion.
